For those who own the SX with the Cargo Cover, has your Cargo Cover make noises when you go over bumps or when you back out of a driveway? Ever since I purchase this car, I've been hearing a thumping, but only when the body sort of rolls or hit's large bumps. I tried everything and I believe it's the Cargo cover. Anyone with similar experiences?

Yes. And I never thought about the cargo cover… I keep checking my rear footwells and door pockets to figure out what the clunking noise is.. I’m gonna try pulling the cover out for a few days and see if it disappears.

LOL, that's the exact locations I thought I was having issues with also. I found that after I pulled the cover out and when I purchased new tires from Tire Rack.

Yes I get a rustling noise over bumps. Figured it was either the cargo cover or packaging around the spare tire, but I don't have any place to store the cargo cover so I haven't been able to take it out to isolate the noise.

Yep mine has driven me mad with that noise. Roll over an uneven suface like a speed hump. Especially turning into another street with a gutter rise. Knocking noise, knock knock knock. It comes across to me like something knocking back and forwards or sideways.
i have done everything, taken out the spare, the cargo cover, spare cover, emptied the entire rear. Still does it. When I go fishing on a dirt road it is non stop going over anything. I have thought it was suspension related, had everything tightened, still does it. Today im going fishing and will find a rise on the road it does it then back onto it, get out and try rocking the body and listen if It does it.
Mines a 2 litre s im in Aus.
edit
Tried some things, still there. Could it be a fuel tank baffle?

This sounds like the classic Seltos back seat latch noise maker - mentioned by others and confirmed by my Kia tech, if that means anything. I use Gorilla tape but it gets chewed up pretty fast (as pic below shows) and you have to give it another 'wrap' for it to work. Just like one time around or so, else the latch won't close. I look at this as a bona fide fix in the fight against interior noise! Nothing to lose! Do both the right and left side and make sure the seat still latches correctly!

Hi. Thanks. Yeah I had that noise and posted a similar fix here on another thread for the seats not long after I got this problem child car. Rear hatch can knock too. Fixed that as well. This noise im experiencing and sounds like another here is hearing in the same driving situations is none of those things unfortunately. Another cause that crossed my mind was the seat belt tensioner. It sounds like something loose or free that shouldn't be, should be secured but isnt.
I can flip the seats down, take out the cargo cover, take out the spare floor/cover, take out the spare, utterly empty the rear, seats layed down and it still knocks driving over the same things. I like driving with no music or radio quite often but it annoys me that much that I drive with music on.
Cheers.

I am right there with you. I may have posted this earlier - I had a perfectly fine (otherwise) 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe with a loud clicking noise in the lower center dashboard. They replaced the part that had with various buttons and it still clicked like crazy a good part of the time, espec in the cold, even with that part removed! - example at
. It wasn't the only reason I traded it in for the Seltos, but it was a big one! I imagine they could have fixed it eventually, but was running out of patience with them simulating the noise and doing something! I have to re-tape my rear seat again.

That would have sent me nuts for sure that was listening to one of those old click clack toys!
The noises from these modern cars are infuriating. My old solid as tank ones pre computer chips and overboard plastics were quiet, even an old Ford I had that was 26 yrs old. And if you did hear anything you could zero in on it the same day and fix it. Cheers.

Hi. Any of you guys figure that noise out yet!
I have exhausted all attempts to find mine.
Seats, cargo cover, spare wheel well cover, empty the entire back out, seats layed down, seat belts fully pulled out and held. It's driving me mad. Right now my stereo is my best friend.

Not yet. Definitely not my cargo cover either. I think the seat belt tensioner mechanism is the next possibility…
Yeah I thought that. I can't say I have 100% ruled that out but yesterday I fully extended it to its end and wraped it tight around the layed down seat so there was nothing more to pull out. Does that stop the mechanism? That I don't know.
Good luck figuring it out. 👍
My misses growled at me today for spending another 2 hours trying "for goodness sake just put up with it!" No worries if I was her who could have an engine knock and steam coming from the hood and not notice either. 😆

Anybody had any luck with the knock sound? I am still chasing it down, driving me crazy as its getting more often.
I read whilst searching the KIA Forte several years ago drove people crazy with a knocking sound. It turned out to be poorly made bushes for the shocks. Kia did a recall after lots of complaints and replaced the bushes, apparently it was the end of the knock sounds.

I would like to Thank "Dougt" for his remedy of the mysterious "knocking" noises. He was spot on about placing tape over the rear seat latch bar. This was incredibly Simple to do and it Totally Solved this problem. I always thought it was the Cargo Cover, I was wrong. I used thick Electrical Tape but the tape wouldn't stick to the bar because it was painted with the same paint that's on the body. So I got a small piece of sand paper and removed the paint. Worked like a charm. Thanks to Dougt remedy!!

Some good news! That's for taking the time to report back. I use Gorilla tape which sticks but I notice I have to re-tape it basically every time I lower the seats...unfortunately. Now.....the buzzing rear view mirror....(I think that's what it is!)
