30,000 mile

So I brought my 21 S for the 30,000 mile service and they came back with these suggestions and a $750 estimate:

Needs Immediate attention:
Alignment - Goes straight down the road with no hands on the wheel

Due to Time & Mileage:
brake fluid exchange
A/C drain and evaporator cleaning
Engine flush
Fuel injection cleaning

I don't see where in the maintenance manual the above time and mileage requirements, are those listed somewhere?

I'm doing the engine flush, but the others I declined for now.

Okay so first, I'm a firm believer in Alignments and regular Fuel Injection cleaner, rather than waiting till there's a problem. If you wait till you have a problem you'll never get it cleaned up.

Your owner's manual has a list for 'scheduled' maintenance. For the US '22. You'll find a table under Maintenance.

Lists Brake fluid at 60000 miles.

Lists Engine Coolant at 120000 miles than every 30000 after.

No mention of Fuel Injection Cleaning, but that's something you can pick up yourself.
Again, I'm a believer in tossing some injection cleaner in your gas, and
every 30000 doesn't seem unreasonable to me for the $15 bucks it'll cost
you at the hardware store.

An engine flush isn't mentioned in scheduled maintenance. I don't have any
recommendations here, though 30,000 seems a little early. Maybe someone
else can offer guidance on this one.

On Alignments, ask what they charge. Shop around. In Canada we have places that will give free checks and will only charge you for wheels that need attention. Took a vehicle to Canadian Tire in the past and they charged me for two wheels.

Went to my dealer for the 30,000 mile service. They said let us check everything first. after which they said that I only needed an oil change. The service department has treated me right since I bought the car. Very pleased!
Any idea what they would be doing for a "fuel injection cleaning service"?
Is it basically cleaning the throttle body like this:
Throttle body and Fuel Injector Cleaning Tips (Anyone run into a better video, maybe a Seltos specific one?)
And a bottle of Gumout multi-system to the tank?
Or are they actually taking the injectors out and cleaning them?
I can do the video level of maintenance if that is it, I'd be hesitant on the injector removal cleaning...maybe in a pinch I'd try.

For the brakes, we are at 2 years ownership and I see that is in reasonable range for the exchange. I may take that on myself, I've done enough brake jobs and understand the procedure. I thought maybe get a brake fluid tester like below and wait until it shows I should replace the fluid.

I don't see a problem with the alignment, it goes straight down the road with my hands off the wheel. I've never had an alignment done on any of my cars unless I was replacing the tires, but I've also never owned an AWD vehicle so not sure how often these modern cars need alignment.

As far as the A/C drain and evaporator cleaning: What's the worse that could happen if that isn't done? A/C starts to be less efficient until it doesn't work anymore? Any harm in waiting to to see when/if that happens during my ownership of the car?

As far as leaving this dealership. These were tech recommended based on mileage. When I booked the appointment online, in the 30K service section there was the "platinum" experience option that had these items listed so I think it is a Dealership policy to try to upsell these services automatically based on mileage. When I spoke with the service advisor, she explained that some of these are automatic things they suggested and really didn't need to be done right now; she was honest and not high pressure. The remainder of the service was great, and since I had replaced my own cabin and engine air filters, a nice chunk of money was deducted. It is ridiculous how much they charge for those two replacements!

And they diagnosed the wiper issue and are replacing the motor under warranty.

As others have said - ignore and find a new dealer. Something definitely sounds wrong. Here in Australia, Kia run a fixed price servicing schedule as part of the sale appeal, along with 7 year warranty. They will show you in advance exactly what is recommended by Kia, and the price, before you even hand them the keys. The costs are very fair and reasonable. My recent 30,000km service coat just $Aus346.00. If tyre wear appear even, and the car tracks true, then, I agree, an alignment is also probably unnecessary.

only thing need is fuel system cleaning. DI needs more attention.
Just did some Royal Purple Max-Clean in the tank for an 8 hour road trip. I'm going to clean the throttle body and call it a day. I'm going to get a tester for the brake fluid once I look up the fluid weight. I may look into getting the foaming cleaner for the air system, I am allergy sensitive so a good cleaning wouldn't hurt.
