Hey All,

Recently purchased a CURT Class I hitch receiver for my '22 Seltos. I went with the one found on etrailer, found here, after reading reviews (almost all positive) and watching their instructional video. All-in-all I am very excited to install and test the hitch.

I'm not looking to do any heavy-duty towing, so a Class I seemed to be perfect. I'll be sure to post updates, reviews, and installation difficulties as I attempt to install it. Arrival is within the next few days.

Here's hoping I don't have to lower the muffler, like etrailer instructs...

Whew buddy.

After about 2 hours of installation, the receiver is mounted.

Some pointers for you potential investors:

1. If you are mechanically savvy, this installation should be a no-brainer for you. I was somewhat lucky, although I did have a major speedbump.

When installing the receiver, there existed a 1/4" gap on the passenger side from where the bolts feed through the tube frame. This led to a bolt falling into the frame. Luckily, I was able to find instructions to remove the bumper and trim pieces, and gain access to the frame. With the bumper out of the way, installation was a breeze. You may not have as bad luck as I, just know that if you drop a bolt, the only way out is through more work.

2. The receiver lives up to all promises by etrailer. They provided detailed instructions, pictures, and even fish wire to feed the bolts through the frame. Be wary, there is grease inside the frame, and you will get messy. I did not have to lower the muffler, as instructed by etrailer. Instead, my wife and I were able to shimmy the receiver around the muffler and exhaust tip to fit it up inside the body. If you are a solo installer, you may want to lower the muffler. If you take it to a shop, you may want to inform them that removing the bumper will ease assembly, although this will undoubtedly add labor costs.

3. Be wary of UPS. Our shipment was delayed a few days, and the package arrived with part of the receiver sticking out of the box with minor paint damage. Nothing some rust-inhibiting spray paint couldn't fix, but an annoyance nonetheless. etrailer would likely instruct us to follow similar steps, instead of returning the product for a new one. It is what it is.

I'd give the product a solid 10, even with the minor issues, as this is definitely a DIY kind of project. I also now live with knowledge of how to change the tail lights, remove the bumper, and access the frame if (for some unholy reason) I ever need to. Photos provided below.

Looks great! Also considering installing my own hitch. My bigger concern is the wiring harness installation, not so much the hitch itself. Did you install the wiring harness? Any thoughts on the process?
Thanks for sharing!
I chose to not install a wiring harness. The needs of my hitch wouldn't extend beyond a simple open utility trailer for landscape purposes. While I don't have much experience with running wires, if you've done it before I couldn't expect much difficulty. There's some real estate under the car to manage wiring placement. Best of luck!

Oh, interesting, in my jurisdiction trailer lights are required for all sizes of trailers, making wiring essential for any kind of towing.
