I've only had my 2021 Seltos 3 weeks and have small paint chips in 4 different spots (good, passenger doors and drivers side rear door). I am a careful driver, no off road or dirt road driving and keep distance from cars in front of me and in parking lots. I feel like the clear coat in thin or non existent and the paint quality/strength is not great. Anyone having similar issue?

1 week after I took delivery on the Seltos, I opted for Cquartz Ceramic Paint coating on the entire vehicle, now when washing the vehicle, dirt simple just falls off. great investment.
I did same on my previous Audi Q5, after 7 years, the paint was amazing, as though it was still brand new.
Cheers

No issues with mine. I have all primary exposed surfaces protected with XPel as I‘ve done with all my cars ever since manufacturers went to environmentally friendly paint.

Hyundai and Kia aren't known for paint quality and durability. That was one of the things I knew going into this. I ordered a Dr. Chip as one of my first purchases for the vehicle. Fix them as you go but I haven't had a chance to us it yet.

!0K miles since September 2020. No chips, paint looks great (Pearl white). I realize we drive carefully but the chips may not be a defect. They may be from another vehicle kicking up sand, pebbles, etc. Someone bumping it in a parking lot? In my opinion, there are many reasons for chips outside of a defect. Where are these chips? Can you attach a picture? Did you speak with the dealer to see if there are any bulletins concerning the paint?

Yes! It's so bad on mine. Drivers side and passenger side doors, the hood is relatively normal in my opinion but the side of the car is ridiculous. So many chips and the dealer is saying it's normal.

Also, my driver's side door is leaking?! Any one else experiencing this?

Leased mine currently 2500 miles on it.The tree next to my driveway decided to start sapping like crazy. Washed the car with in 48 hours. After 3 washes 2 by car wash and 1 by hand the sap has eaten through the clear coat on the spots where the sap has come off. The other 2 cars the sap came off no problem. There is something wrong with this paint.

Yes I have 4 chips in different places and it’s less than a year old.

I purchased my car in October of 2020 and already lots of little rust spots on doors, under the lights. I am very diligent in keeping my car clean but am not impressed these are popping up everywhere.
When I called the dealer they said they would give it a acid wash, I have a 3m protection film on and it still is coming up. They also asked right away if my car was pearl white. Anyone else having this happen?

Purchased my Seltos in July 2020, noticed bonnet chips and passenger door spider cracks above the door handle all within 9 months of purchase. Look after the cleaning with non abrasive products and waxing, think paint quality is not that flash.

Like you, caban6, coming into this thread a bit late. Disappointing to hear of this paint issue. I have to say the finish on my late 2019 GT-Line is amazing, helped by the fact I gave in and had Autogard applied on purchase - something I have tended to poo-hoo in the past, and now regret - but it is bloody amazing. My paint job is now over three years old, yet still looks like new - sheds the dirt and dust with a shower of rain, and not a blemish on it. I've had people step off the footpath, (sidewalk), and comment on the "amazing paint finish". Something I've never experienced before. It would be a shame if Kia have dropped their quality assurance procedures because of Covid, but you do have to wonder..?

My car's paint is called Mars Orange, (Punchy Orange in some places, eg India), and I gather is now the demo choice - previously that was the Starbright Yellow. Interestingly though we didn't get the Intense Red some other countries have - not so far anyway. I have wondered if testing found it did not do well in the vicious Aussie summer sun..?

My colour is the Dark Navy and looks sharp but very disappointed after such a short time. Interestingly on the first service, the dealers asked if i needed any paint chips dealt with, did not have any at that point, perhaps they were aware of this issue........
