Hey Seltos owners, have you had the (mis)fortune of your AEB kicking in yet?
I've had a couple of situations where I thought it should have fired up but didn't (neither the dash warning nor the braking). Perhaps I am just the over cautious type but I have this strange aversion to running up peoples backside when they pull out in front of you like you're not there.
Is it supposed to work in isolation of the cruise control or only when cruise control is activated?
Probably a dumb question, and I should just have faith in Kia engineering department to get this stuff right but it's not something I'm keen on testing in a real life scenario if I'm honest...hence the question here.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

I would suggest to ensure first you have that feature available in your trim and second that the feature is turned on/activated and third to change the settings to early warning vs late...

Feature available - check
Feature turned on - check
set to early warning - check

I have spoken to Kia and they've confirmed that I need to 'have faith in the force'... So, we'll see how it goes...just not keen on testing it...if you know what I mean.

While I won't have my Seltos for another week or so I will tell you that I have had emergency braking in two cars before and the system should definitely not be relied on. There are so many factors that come into play that you can never predict what will happen. I look at it like "If it saves me then great but if it doesn't that's why I drive safely and have insurance."

I can assure you the warning works. That being said, if you are in a situation where you need it, there's a good chance you already failed to do your job as a motorist. It's an emergency system for a reason. If you're doing your job, you shouldn't see it manifest itsself to you.

It may respond but it may not save you from a collision.

If you want to test it, go for it. As for me, I'll assume it works and avoid being in situations where I'm expecting it to do something.

To answer the OP's question, it works independently of the automated cruise control functions. Turn it on and keep driving.

So, had to test the AEB but not of my own choice. Was backing out of an angled parking space onto surface street. Checked camera and over my shoulder - Nothing there so it was clear to go. Car came around corner and blew though stop sign. AEB stopped Seltos real quick as I was already shifting to "Drive" to go forward. Luckily other driver stopped too as he realized he had blown through stop sign. Was rather close, but it worked.

Warning only. I had to intentionally test it for that to go off. Had a friend driving at a steady Pace ahead. Seems adaptive to both lead car and my car speed I get warnings when people tailgate while I brake and turn, occasionally.

On my SX Turbo, it works almost too much. I've had it kick in several times coming up to a red light and the warning sound goes off. Even when I pull up to my garage door, if i get too close it sounds.
