(Moved this all over to a separate thread as it was more of a side discussion.)

One point that should be made after this weekend’s experience for any wireless adapter. At -20c or lower it will drain your battery overnight. Got to experience first hand this weekend…had to boost the car this morning. Will be unplugging for the remainder of the weekend and hopefully no more further issues. Drove it for about an hour and a half on the highway so charge should be good.

Can't say I've experienced it. No issues starting. Will let you know if that changes. How confident are you that it's the dongle?

These cars stay on all the time. They have to, to be able to send start requests over cellular networks. I'm certain all the goings-ons there use FAR more power than a dongle on standby. I for one remain unconvinced a simple dongle can drain a car battery overnight and will continue to leave mine plugged in. Will let you know if I have any issues.

I could end up eating crow.

I wouldn’t have thought so either, but this is the first time I’ve left the car outside and it did hit -30 last night. Not sure if a combination of that and the current draw caused it, but it was definitely a low condition this morning. Doors wouldn’t even open and the dash was flickering once I got inside. I’ve unplugged it for now, we will see if it has the same issue tomorrow…
Wasn’t a short drive to where we were staying either, so should have had a full recovery by the time it got here. (40 minutes highway)

It ain't cold till your tires freeze a flat spot in em. Thunk thunk thunk.
My Suzuki's would all start no matter how cold. Tires frozen in shape of the ground. Still start.
Doubt I can say the same for the KIA.

That's not what you call warm, this is what you could call warm. (Apologies to Croc Dundee, "That's not a knife"...you know how it goes)

30.9ºC = 87.6ºF From our weather station read-out

How do you folk live in temps like that. I believe you have to add kero to your oil, or do they make super-low-viscosity oil for there now..?

Quick update, checked it this morning after sitting through the blizzard last night and it seemed fine now that I unplugged the carlinkit…weird that it would overdraw the battery in that short of time (10 hours) just because of the cold. I say because of the cold since I’ve left it sit for weeks in underground parking and never had an issue.

Speed, I guess you could say that cars these days never sleep, what with all the remote control functions, etc. Add to that the fact that the car by its own charger never tops the battery right up, and the addition of one more power drain, and very cold weather…
I find even in our warm climate that it’s worth putting the car on a smart charger every so often. It always takes several hours to charge up fully, no matter what running it has done.

One interesting thing I’ve noticed here since unplugging the carlinkit, the internal wireless uplink on the Seltos seems to be connected more expediently to the Kia connect app. I can refresh the car status in seconds as opposed to spinning for minutes at time and often not responding at all. It is a possibility that the carlinkit is interfering somewhat, but I’m not sure why or how…they’re operating on very different frequencies and formats.
Edit: i thought it was only using Bluetooth, but apparently it uses wifi as well, so that could easily be causing a channel conflict or interference. Would have to be able to change the wifi channel, but I doubt that’s possible on this. Usually a higher end wifi modem option.

Update to the update, battery died again the next day even with carlinkit unplugged.
I threw a charger on it for several hours yesterday and even before bed it was still drawing 1 amp on a 2 amp charge rate, so I think my battery is screwed. Will be popping by Kia this morning on the way home and working on getting a replacement battery under warranty.

Speed, I think you just nailed the explanation right there. Your battery was ailing already. Possibly already had a really dodgy cell, which with the cold was actually dropping out so badly your voltage was so far below the 12 it just could not turn the car over - or work the locks etc. A new battery should fix everything. Might even be lucky enough to get it under the battery warranty as your car is so near new..?

We lease 2x Seltos cars from Kia...2022 & 2023...leased the 2022 in late 2021 and leased the 2023 in late 2022 I live in Winnipeg where extreme cold winters are a part of life...we're still going through a week long cold snap of -30c - -40c as of today (Feb 2). Last winter, I had to jump the 2022 close to a dozen times when the temps dipped around -25 and colder. Annoyingly frustrating to say the least. I installed the UVO app on the 2022 when we first leased it for convenience and was always suspicious that the UVO app may be trickle draining the battery. I never installed the UVO app on the 2023 and have not had a single problem this winter through the 2 separate cold snaps we've had. I had to jump the 2022 once during the first cold snap. After that first jump, I uninstalled the UVO app on the 2022 and have not had a problem since. Can't say for sure that this was/is the issue but so far, it kind of seems like it...knock on ice (lol)

Interesting…not sure why it would be hammering it so hard just overnight in the cold…
fortunately I park underground for the most part so really isn’t a major issue.

I've been trying to get mine to drain with things plugged in. It won't. I don't have anything that will charge a device after the car is turned off, door opened and it left to wallow in it's own pity.
Kinda wondering how you're charging while off? I could use that feature from time to time.
