If following the included directions didn't work (or you're not really very tech oriented), maybe get someone else you know to have a look and see if they can get it working.
Other than that, your best bet would be to contact the seller for guidance or return it and try something else.

My CarLinkit connected super easy on my Seltos SX, just following the included directions.

Make sure you are plugging it in to the correct (always on) USB port closer to the driver side. The one closest to the passenger side (Assuming you are Left hand drive where you are) is NOT the radio connection port.

PS, welcome to the forum

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm quite good in these technical issues. I followed all the instructions as described in the manual. I even did an update to my unit, but unfortunately it didn't work. I'm using data USB, in fact I tested both USB plugs with no result. My Seltos is an India version.

Why does it say CarPlay for an Android device?
Also, why is Netflix an app for a mobile screen? (And a web browser…chrome). Something seems janky there…

At any rate, it Sounds like something isn’t quite set right on your Seltos…Personally, I’d bring in a fresh set of eyes that can check your connections/settings and make sure everything is right. We often overlook things when we think we have tried everything and know the answer.

Perhaps some settings have to be adjusted in the hidden engineering mode to which I can no more access especially after the last update. It asks for an 8 digit code instead of 4

AI boxes are a totally separate product from the wireless CarPlay adapter. AI box runs its own Android system which uses the Android Auto display protocol as its primary screen and then hosts wireless CarPlay/Android Auto as an optional extra. The benefit is that you’re no longer locked to only the official apps allowed on AA/CP by Android/Apple, and you can do extra things like inserting a SIM card into the AI box in order to run a Wi-Fi hotspot or simply to gain full-time data access and never need to troubleshoot a wireless CarPlay/AA connection from your primary device.

The best way to describe it: AI box is just like the phone you already have, except it doesn’t have a built-in screen and instead uses your cars screen. I conversationally refer to mine as my “car phone”.

Thanks for the the telegram group. As for the update, I already did it
My last thought here is that if you’ve already updated the box, you’ve tried different cables, you’ve tried factory resetting the box, you’ve tried disabling and then re-enabling the phone projection settings in the main Kia system… then that’s about all you can do. Carlinkit and Exploter are usually pretty good with keeping up with crippling bugs like that.. If I see any chats relating to this, I’ll make another post here.

The October 2022 Kia update for the Seltos has been suspended for “bugs”. I have no idea what those bugs are, and can’t say whether it would cause this issue or not. So if you’re on that recent update, I would definitely recommend running a factory reset on the head unit to see if it clears any issues. If no change, you will probably just need to wait until the next head unit update releases. I wouldn’t recommend going through the OEM/service menu - there’s not much in there that could solve this (but again, I’ll update if I see something that contradicts this).

They tend to change those codes every year or so. But all it takes is for someone to unpack one of the downloaded updates from the desktop program and sift through the changes - which will probably happen within the first couple weeks after they revise and relaunch the October/November update. Usually that discussion will be posted on XDA Developers Forum. It might even be on there already.. I’ll poke around

Well noted, I'll reset it and let you know.
Many thanks for your help 🙏🏻 I'm new in android AI boxes issues but I can follow. It was a gift for my last birthday given by my youngest son

I own a 2021 Seltos SX, but never heard of a CarLinkit. Can someone tell me what this is?
It plugs into the always-on USB port and allows wireless CarPlay or Android Auto (YMMV on Android)
If you have the smaller screen entertainment system, you already have wireless connection and don't need it.
