safety light says windshield will need to be replaced reading the text in your forum it would appear it could take days and weeks my question is is it safe to drive from Tucson to Austin which is my destination

Can't see why not.It is a safety class which means if it were to shatter it wouldn't fall into the cabin.If it is a crack the crack will only get bigger over time.
