This morning, I was gonna do a voice command to find for a point of interest in Nav so I pressed the voice command button, whatever it is called, and it just displayed the “Preparing Voice Recognition… Please wait”. It disappeared a few seconds later but nothing happened, no voice prompt! Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

I took my Seltos to the KIA service. The service manager couldn’t find out what the problem is so he made an appointment for my Seltos to be looked by a technician. My Seltos needs to learn signed language because it is deaf and mute.

I guess no one has this problem! I’m here at the KIA service for another attempt to have this fixed. When driving, the Navigation system does not want you to use the touch screen to find places/POI’s - you have to use voice commands. Without voice recognition, you’re screwed.

Update: the tech diagnosing the issue is confusing the vehicle voice recognition system with my phone’s Siri and CarPlay! I asked him to hook up with KIA support and he came to me with a printout that says one cause of this issue is if the phone connected has more than 1,000 contacts. Well, I don’t have that many contacts so that’s not it.

It’s been more than 1 hour.

Update: after 2 hours, the service manager came and said the technician is updating the head unit and it’s on the 50% mark. I wonder if this is the one that would change my screen color scheme to the purple shade, and take away the widgets, only two split screen - I will lose the 3 split screen!

Update: That 50% was only on the download! I can’t believe that their service does not have a ready USB drive for the head unit update. I took my Seltos from them and drove home. But the service manager said the transfer o USB will be done and I can bring my car back tomorrow to finally update the system.

I can’t believe service does not have update files ready in the shop! Their Internet is slow!&$#@*

I just added a new entry that this one reminded me of - "No Network Response" when using the UVO button on ceiling or the PTT button on steering wheel...??!! "No Network Response" - UVO button or voice...
Interesting. I’ll follow that thread. Can you still do remote commands from your KIA Access app on your mobile phone?

Anyway, they updated the software of the head unit to the (I believe) April 2021 update. Everything’s working fine now except that I now have only 2 split screen - however the second screen is scrollable to whatever you configure it to display - time, weather, compass, media, etc.

Yes, the Kia app still works fine on my phone. Better than ever as a matter of fact!

I'm in Canada and my 2021 seltos is doing the same thing!!! I'm scared to take it in ever since I took my old car there for something, ended up being a FUSE, and they charged me $200!!!

You don’t have to go to dealer service to fix that. Download and install the latest software yourself. Go to update.kia.com from a PC or MAC. Follow the instructions on the “Navigation Update”. In my case, the dealer service tech updated the software for free.

According to Mr. Firefox111, updating the software Fixed his problem. There is an April 2021 and even a June 2021 update available And I think we are expecting the normal August one soon.. There are some other Entries in the forum if you're not familiar with that, as it is generally Our responsibility to do the update.....
