How do people find the Seltos ABS brakes on snow. I have a 2022 Seltos and I’m on my second winter. Even with a light dusting of snow they activate if a brake moderately and my car starts to slide.

For a larger snowfall, they come on really easily and my stopping distance is quite extended and I find dangerous. I’d turn them off in winter if I could. Sort of regret this car for that and a second smaller reason (rear view mirror is too dark at night and I can’t turn off the night dimming … both issues relate to safety for me).

Anyways, wondering if my braking issue is on spec. Maybe I’ll take one on a test drive next snowfall and see if it’s similar to mine.

Proper tires make all the difference...with my Bridgestone Weatherpeak's my ABS rarely kicks on and then only when it's pretty much glare ice.
It also helps significantly if you drive in winter conditions like there is an egg between your foot and the pedal (Jackie Stewart preached this one...R.I.P.), heavy braking and acceleration is bad, especially in slippery conditions.

@mywintercar ... Sounds like you and I got Friday cars. I've been bitching about my ABS since Winter started. I find it very inconsistent. And here's the thing people that don't have the problem don't understand.

I once had it kick in on dry pavement that sent me clear into the intersection. Cause once it engages you're along for the ride. To counter, I leave enormous gaps between me and the car in front, and brake very early.

Its just you and me buddy, no one else seems to be complaining.

My Suzuki's ABS was 80% breaking 20% coast, my KIA's ABS is the opposite, 20% breaking 80% coasting. It literally extends braking by 4x when it kicks in. The other frustration is that the experience isn't consistent.

Before it comes up, I have proper Winter rubber (Nokian R3). And I had the benefit of having these on my previous car. So I know how they handle on my previous car.

I forgot you had brought something up to that effect…could be something as simple as a grabby pad that maybe didn’t get installed to spec. It doesn’t seem to be the norm as there hasn’t been much for complaints in the forum and the experience with mine and even my mom’s new one has been uneventful in that regards.
Although, now that I think about it…the EX that we test drove (but didn’t buy) had VERY grabby brakes. Every time mom hit them she complained that they were really abrupt. I can confirm she nearly put us through the windshield on almost every slow down or stop…I thought it was just because she wasn’t used to the newer brakes, but maybe not. I asked her if her new EX Premium was like that and she said it was nowhere near as bad (I didn’t drive the EX, guess I should have…)

That actually might not be a bad idea (if you can find one on a lot), let us know what you experience if you do.
That EX my mom drove may have had a similar issue, now that SHCS reminded me…
