Just ordered an SX Turbo

So, the wife found the exact car she wanted. We have loved our Kias (coming out of a 2010 Koupe that she loves). I've never ordered one before, so I went to my favorite dealer just to ask about the process. 20 minutes and $500 later. we're on order. 2022 or 23 SX Turbo in Neptune Blue with the interior light kit. Wanted the puddle lights, but it is not available right now to order, so we skipped it. We'll be optimistic, and hope it's under 6 months. Either way, happy to be joining the Seltos family.

Started with a 2006 Spectra that lasted 6 years before I hit a deer. 2011 Sorento that I loved but the electrical system was possessed, 2013 Sportage that was fun but not beefy enough. And of course, the 2010 Koupe that has just over 100k on it and still runs great, but is getting old and doesn't handle snow well.

Good luck! We ordered from two different dealers in mid-February, also a Neptune Blue SX with a sunroof. Our order is next in line at one dealer, and third in line at the other dealer. We're replacing a beloved 2010 Rav4 that was totaled in a rear-end collision over the Christmas holidays, and have a road trip planned for August so hoping it gets here before then.

The dealers aren't sure when the model year changeover will happen. In previous years, it was in the summer timeframe but any changeover will result in a few week delay. We have a road trip planned for August for which we need this car and it feels like it may be very close as to whether or not get we it. A month ago, we shopped some other models where the order process was even longer so we didn't pursue those and just stuck with the Seltos.

Good luck to both of us that we get ours soon.

Good Luck in your new purchase. Back in 2020, right before Covid. I purchased a KIA Seltos S model. I liked it a lot but I wanted more features. So when I brought in my model S for it's first oil change I left with a SX Turbo model. Best thing I did. So having driving both the S model and the SX Turbo, I love my SX. I highly recommend you to get the SX Turbo.

Thanks for the recommendation. I want my wife to have what she wants. She likes sporty, and doesn't really want an SUV, but her Forte Koupe is getting old, and doesn't handle the snow very well. The SX Turbo had the right items as standard, so I think she'll be happy having all of the toys as well as a well performing SUV.
It has more electronic "gizmos" than you can think of. Took a while for me to get used to it. First time I had to pick up the manual several times to read them. Lane assist, Auto high beams, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc, etc.
Yesterday, we found a couple of dealers in our area who were amazingly selling the Rav4 Hybrid at MSRP. The reason we ordered the Seltos was because our 2010 Rav4 was totaled in an accident, and as empty nesters going smaller and simer was ideal.

Our Seltos orders are for $2k over MSRP, so the cost of a higher end Rav4 Hybrid is only about $1500 more. So now we have orders in at both of those Toyota dealers. We'll probably take the first vehicle that comes in.
The RAV4 was the 1st car I went to. As soon as I opened the door I smashed my head on the roof trim. The model I was looking at was about (then) $3k more than the Seltos. This model didn't have powered seats, thinking "hey it's 2020". So I asked and the guy said only the premium RAV4 have it. So I laughed and left. At that time, I didn't even think of KIA.

So some actual numbers. My Seltos SX with sunroof, splash guards, and destination/delivery is $30120. Add $2000 additional dealer markup and the total is $32120 plus tax.

The Rav4 Hybrid in XLE trim, plus the convenience package (power liftgate and sunroof), splash guards, and destination/delivery is $33654 plus tax. So overall less than $2000 more.

With these two models, the Seltos has heated seats and wireless Qi charging that the Rav4 does not, along with a bigger touchscreen. The Rav has power liftgate, dual zone climate, power folding mirrors, and a power plug in the cargo compartment that the Seltos doesn't have. Both have the full suite of safety features and are basically similarly equipped otherwise. The Rav4 also is more roomy and serene, accelerates a bit faster, and has better fuel economy at all speeds.

We ordered in mid-February and Kia still has not picked up either of our orders. If Kia had been able to produce our car, or if the local dealers would have sold it to us at MSRP, we'd likely stick with the Seltos. I investigated every Kia dealer within 1000 miles and all of them were over MSRP, but these two Toyota dealers are within 60 miles of us and both are selling for MSRP. For this little amount more money, we're basically getting the next size and luxury class up, losing out only in parking lot maneuverability.

This morning, my wife is strongly considering canceling both Seltos orders. Our main issue is we have a long road trip in August and we need this vehicle for that purpose. With one of our Seltos orders next in line, it seems a decent possibility we'd get our SX in time, and there is no such guarantee with the Rav4.

We're cancelling our Seltos orders in the morning and have orders placed at three different Toyota dealers for a Rav4 Hybrid. Good luck to everyone here!
Good luck! It must be different in the US...here in Canada there are VERY long wait times for the hybrids/phev (2.5years on rav 4 phev). Our seltos sx turbo also comes with sun roof, heads up display, cooling seats, heated rear seats standard for 26.8k USD and that includes delivery charges..no mark ups either. I don't get it! But I do know it makes the leap up to rav4/Sportage way less economical...

Best of luck with your wait! I was told September for delivery but yesterday my rep said the car was scheduled for first week of June...trying to get some more details on that.
Cooling Seats!!? Unfortunately not in the US unless they added it for the 2022 year, wow. Heads Up Display, & heated Rear Seats, neither was available when I purchased mine. My opinion I would most definitely stick with the Seltos most bang for the buck. As I stated previously with all the standard options with the SX Turbo compared to the RAV4, there was a huge price difference. I paid just under $30K for my Turbo. When I tallied the RAV4 it was about 3 to 4K difference. At that time KIA was listed as number 7th rated mfg by Consumer Reports and there was so many great reviews on YouTube at the time. Not sure if you seen my other posting about how horrible Consumer Reports listed the KIA model S and then opening up last months CS car issue, where they list all the cars in existence at the end of the magazine, their final insult was they didn't list the Seltos (any models) at all. I since stopped my 35 yr subscription. I've urged other Seltos owners to write to CS and complain.

Yep cooling seats haha, don't understand it as on average the US is way hotter than Canada, but I'm not going to complain!

I did see your post as well, weird they didn't include. I'm not too worried about reliability ect, forums are places for people to complain. Most people don't get obsessed with their vehicle like all of us. If there is an issue it will be covered by the warranty!

We stopped in at our local dealer today to see if there were any updates.
Apparently our new Seltos SX is scheduled to arrive on May 30th...woohoo!
I am happy with the news but a little annoyed with our dealer since (as usual) their communication skills seem to be severely lacking. We should have heard about this without having to go in and pry it out of them...

So you'll be at just under 3 months from order to deliver?

Congrats! What color interior is in yours? We switched to burgundy I wonder if that made it sooner...

If ours does arrive early June we will be about 2.5m wait.

Yup, pretty much. We ordered on March 12th...assuming it arrives on time as indicated...2 and a half months order to delivery.

We ordered the Burgundy as well. Apparently it was the shorter wait time...the Gravity Grey w/black interior was an extra 6 to 8 weeks.

So crazy... I didn't think swapping to burgundy would make the arrival date that much sooner. If I had known I would of started with burgundy!

What color exterior are you going with?

Nice! We went white/burgundy. I saw a gravity grey/burgundy in person. Looked sharp.
