Did anyone get a letter from Kia in the mail recently about their Voluntary Campaign:
  • SC224
    SC224 OIL FILLER CAP REPLACEMENT
Has anyone gotten the new replacement, properly labeled (LOL) oil cap? Does it say "0W-20?" Since the manual recommends this for the 2.0L engine.
Thanks
I have the 2022 EX with the 2.0 and really love it so far, knock on wood! I've been happily driving my 2003 Honda Element until she would go no more...

I just received the letter today. When I had my first service I had to make certain that the 0W-20 was used and the service department
even noted that 'customer requested 0W-20 even though the cap says differently'... gee somebody actually reads the owners manual?

I called my local dealer and was told to bring the Seltos down for the cap replacement only to find that the cap hadn't been ordered... Supposed to be here by the end of the week. I'll let you
know what the corrected cap label is when I get it.

I have not gotten this letter yet, was it for 2021 or 2022? Funny, though, my wife has a similar recall for
her 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe - same issue. I have a 2022 SX.

So I stopped into my local dealer where I plan to service, did not buy there, but played dumb and ask
what oil they use. Service manager says "Manual says use OW-20, but Kia is telling us now to switch to
Ow-30 for this car and area of the country" - I live in SE Pennsylvania - does this make sense?

I am totally confused by the oil specs being put out there and the oil cap just adds to that.

I got the replacement oil filler cap today. It is labeled with 'Check Owners Manual' and '0W - 20'
. I think the important part for us who live in the wonderful state of
California is to have gotten the replacement done and having the certificate showing proof that the cap was replaced... Since this was something to do with 'Emissions'
our wonderful state's even more wonderful Department of Motor Vehicles could hold up any future registration of the vehicle if you could not show such proof of correction...

Sorry, you are right. I have the 2022 S model with the 2.0 engine and as the manual shows the oil called for is 0W-20, but our original oil cap showed 5W - 20.
So the 'recall' was for the 2.0 engine.

Shortly after I bought the vehicle last July, I noticed the wrong cap and dropped by the dealer to see if I could get the right one. They didn't seem to know anything about it but said they'd look for a properly labeled one. Of course that was the last I heard of it. Now at least when I go back next time I can bring the Kia letter with me and maybe this time get the right cap. Meanwhile, I used my labelmaker to put the correct info on the existing cap.
