May 2023 Navigation Update

Hi- don't see any recent 'nav update' items so I'll post what I'm finding out here. This is for the May 2023 Navigation updates for, in my case, a 2021 SX Seltos. Everything starts at update.kia.com (pix below). It appears to show a May '23 update being available at the bottom of the screen, but as you continue it shows "updates temporarily unavailable" screen. I emailed the "Navigations Solution Center" (old Mapnsoft) since apparently you can't talk to a real person anymore and got this response back this morning..... So I'll guess I'll set a reminder to try again mid-June - just wanted to share what I've found... DT

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the Navigation Solution Center, we have currently delayed the download for the newest release of
the v17.0 Mapping Update. We are having Software Revisions, downloads will resume in mid-June and Shipping Orders will resume in late May.
Also, we have no confirmation that it will fix the alert issue. I recommend you visit your local dealer for a diagnosis.
If you have any other questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us again.
We do thank you for contacting us and we hope you have a great day.

Sincerely,
James

Just went out and tripped the install now. Kinda forgot about it.

Will let you know how it goes.
It's good you can be loading the update while driving, at least, rather than just sitting there with the engine running.
Mines updating with the engine off.
I didn't notice any color change. The only thing I noticed is they changed the sound it makes passing a red light camera.

I noticed at least one of the streets I updated speeds for on the MapNQuest site in November ACTUALLY CHANGED. Crazy right? BUT, other streets, that were previously correct have had their speeds REMOVED. This is getting ridiculous. MapNQuest is nothing short of inept. It's comical how terrible they are at this. I haven't driven enough to really give an overall review, only took one drive since.

So I update three main streets in November on the MapNQuest site that had completely incorrect data on them. With this new update, as I mentioned before 1 of those streets had its Speed Limit correctly adjusted to the correct speed. The other two I confirmed today remain incorrect. AND not only that but at least two streets that USED to be correct have had their Speed Limits removed so that they don't show any longer.
For those interested, my primary 'like' about the KIA system is the redlight speed trap warnings. Which is hidden behind the KIA Connect paywall.

This week I've been testing Waze. Oddly enough, a Google property. Was pretty simple actually, installed Waze on my phone, I think on my infotainment system I had to manually launch it with the icon the first time, but since it's been the default map app on both devices without my really telling it to be. Regardless the reason I wanted to test Waze was that it does the RedLight Camera warnings ... for free. Also shows road speeds, though not on my heads-up display which will be disappointing.
Yes, but I suspect its behind the paywall. Don't know for certain but I wouldn't put it past them.
Oh ... and because they're relying on data from MapNSoft it is for the most part incorrect.
The HUD is that feature I didn't know I wanted till I drove the test car. It was an immediate, I need this. I do wish it did one thing, show when your turn signals are on. I often find the Seltos doesn't trip the signal off if the turn isn't tight enough so I end up driving blocks with my left-hand signal on like a tool.
