A KIA sales person gave me a logical but somewhat disappointing explanation. The low end KIA Seltos do not have a navigation system therefore they make it easy (wirelessly) for a cell phone running Google maps to connect to the existing car’s electronic display. The high end Seltos have a different and larger display with a navigation system therefore does not require car play for navigation via a cell phone. Maybe KIA has to pay some type of licensing fee each time they enable car play and don’t if, in their opinion, it’s not needed. The cell phone still connects wirelessly for regular cell phone use and playing music from the phone etc.
