Hi all! I bought my 2021 EX with 14k miles certified pre-owned from a Kia dealership in October of this year. I love this car so much EXCEPT my tires keep blowing out, I feel heat coming through my vents when the air system is off, and I have leaking oil. This car has been back to the dealer every other week since I’ve had it (a whopping 3 months!). Nothing seems to be fixed and when I start to get annoyed with them, they turn very patronizing. Is anyone else having tire issues? I know of the recall about the oil and overheating engine but they keep telling me it’s not that. I only have a warranty until 20k miles and I’m currently almost at 17k. I’m starting to think they’re putting bandaids on so they don’t have to actually repair anything under warranty.

One specific tire position?
More than one in different positions?
Just the old tires or any of the new ones?
The tires were supposedly brand new when I bought the car. So far both of the back tires have blown. I don’t remember the the brand (I’m aaway for the holiday). I just had one of them replaced this week and had them inspect all the others. They said they were ok. Apparently not.
Maybe they put on really old stock tires with dry rot, not sure what else would cause that other than extended driving at too low a pressure...but that would take a while and your dash would have warned you anyways (I would think)
That’s what’s I thought but the pressure was fine and I never had an alert. It just seems fishy to me
Describe what you mean by blowout. To me, a blowout is a rapid decompression. Or are we talking about leaks?
I know when I moved into my house, construction was still going on in houses around me. I had a lotta nails in tires repaired. Are you frequenting areas with significant construction?
Beyond that I'd ask the same question Speed did. What tires do they have on it. Were the stock tires Kumho in the US market for 2021? Maybe someone with one could confirm.
Maybe they swapped them out with cheap Chinese whitelabel crap.

So my low pressure never alerted me of anything. They were checked a few days ago and I was told they were fine. They literally just popped and deflated within a minute or two. Once on a major highway with nothing or no one around and another on a local road with no construction. They said they couldn’t find evidence of any nails or anything. Unless they can’t handle going over 50 mph and just pop from speed which I think is crazy
If they were new, there should be a tire warranty…
I have 47k miles on my SX and I monitor my air pressure constantly and tweaking them to make them all balanced. I purchased new tires at 42k, Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive, which I highly recommend. I would go to another KIA dealership if possible. I have had extremely good service here in Coatesville PA.

This is one weird story. For a start you do not expect a modern tyre, (since when did they become tires..? 😬), to just pop, no matter how cheap. In this day and age where steel belted and tubeless are the norm, even punctures with quite large screws and nails usually take hours to go down, and often they don't - until the item is removed. My son is living in a new estate and has found a screw in a tyre several times lately, but never had one go flat soon enough to not make it a planned trip to the tyre specialist.
Which then begs the question, are the rims original or have they been swapped out to a non-standard type..? Are the remote pressure senders performing properly or are the tyres being pumped up too high because of erroneous readings..? What about the warranty..? So many unanswered questions...
Interesting. You have a good point on relying on the electronic pressure readings in the car. I have a fairly accurate separate Air Pressure gauge and I should check the accuracy. I believe I did when I purchased the car, but since I have a long trip coming up I'll check again with it. Thanks!

Definitely do that. I have found that the pressures are quite accurate on my car, by comparing their read-out with the pressure I have selected as the cut-off on the garage pump. However, I still flash a manual pressure gauge over them from time to time just in case. I urge everyone to do that.
However, I'm sure we are all interested in more answers to our queries from Lolo30, re tyre make, age, rims, and the possibility the senders are inaccurate..? Tyres these days don't just pop - there's always a reason.
