Hello All!
I placed an order for a 2022 Seltos SX back in early August (2021) and was just given a delivery date of early February (2022). Does 6 months seem crazy to anyone else? (I am located in upstate NY)

We ordered our '22 Seltos the first week of November here in West Virginia and they told us to expect 3-4 months. Maybe your dealer just gave you a worst-case scenario so that you will be happy when it takes "only" 4 months. LOL

I originally ordered a Seltos and was also told 6-8 months. After 10 months passed I pressed the dealership and they finally told me Kia cancelled my build and re-scheduled it another model year out so I gave up on getting the color I wanted and just bought the next SX that they had coming in.

The issue was the two-tone roof. My build had a two-tone option and halfway through the 2021 model run they quit doing them in order to streamline production capacity.

Apparently Kia uses an allocation system for their builds and the long lead time is normal for them.

I actually don't mind missing out on the roof color too much but I do wish I could have gotten the grey seats I was trying to get. The Seltos interior is just too black IMO and needs something to break it up. I see for '22 you can get a burgundy seat color too which I definitely would have been game for.

I guess I was lucky. When everyone else was buying toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic, I bought my Seltos SX Turbo. Turned 50,000 miles yesterday and have enjoyed every mile! It'll be two years of ownership this coming March. In my opinion, worth the wait.

I had to laugh at your post! I too was out buying a 2021 SX Turbo in Starbright Yellow with a black roof instead of standing in line for toilet paper. I fell in love with the color from the commercials and YouTube and we went on the hunt. Could not locate one in Arizona but did find one in Santa Fe New Mexico. So drove the distance to get it in April 2020. Just hit 25K, no major issues at this point. LOVE my Seltos!

I liked the yellow in photos but where I live it doesn't look like that in person. It has a sickly greenish hue to it that frankly is quite ugly. The wavelength of light from the sun is different at different latitudes and can shift the hue of colors but I've never seen one that transforms from beautiful to ugly the way this does. It's like the story of the ugly duckling and the swan, you get one or the other depending on where you are parked!

I think it looks great in most photos as well, but I have only seen it in person for about 1 second while I was in some congested traffic. I think the appeal comes from the high contrast when paired with the black roof. IMO, the vast majority of cars look sharper with a black roof. I can’t imagine having the starbright yellow without a black roof, but I would definitely be into starbright with black roof.

Ideally, I would like my neptune blue SX with a black roof, but I am only going to add so many extras to a leased car. I have already added quite a few!

I booked EX couple of weeks ago in Edmonton, Canada, They told me 2-6 months time, but most probably i will get it in 3 months. After seeing the post, looks like the wait is going to be more.
I was told by my dealership in NB that it would be late spring or early summer so I would say it would be on the far end of the time period they told you.

I waited for almost a year for Dark Ocean Blue with black roof and grey interior. You can't actually get Neptune blue with a contrast roof option, at least you couldn't then. It's all good though I like the neptune blue too even if it's blue on top as well.

Nice combo there with the Ocean blue and black roof…you should post some pics in here!

It’s kind of ridiculous that they made the contrasting colors such a rarity in their production. It’s such a great look for the Seltos even more so than most any other SUV in my opinion. The RAV-4 does it fairly well, but it’s just not as striking.

Yeah, the Neptune doesn’t come with the option of a black roof- I meant I was considering a black roof wrap. It’s not likely though due to my lease, and I don’t have too much extra money just to throw at this car. I saw a picture not too long ago online of someone who did it with the Neptune blue and it really looked amazing. Of course I can’t find it now though and I wasn’t able to save it to my photos

Oh, sorry, I was picking up from my earlier comment in the thread. I wasn't able to actually get the blue/black/grey combo I wanted. What I actually own is a Neptune Blue with normal blue roof and black seats. I like this color too, it stands out amongst the sea of white/grey/silver/black SUVs in this area, but I still wish I could have gotten the grey seats.

Ah yes, I see that now. Sorry, I take care of COVID patients in a hospital so my brain is trashed.

So we have the exact same car…inside and out! I’m happy with my all black interior. The grey seats appear to be very light and would show any dirt quite easily. Also, having a monochromatic color interior gives the illusion of more space in a compact vehicle. I don’t think the burgundy option would pair up very well with the Neptune blue regardless.

Did you buy or lease? Either way, I would highly recommend tinting your driver and passenger side windows to match the back, as well as get a sun strip on your windshield. Also, get the OEM sport visors..

If you really want to go out even further, black wrap your roof dude! That picture I saw of someone that did it to their Neptune blue looked much better than pics I have seen of the factory Ocean blue/black roof combo. The Neptune Blue is lighter than Ocean, so the contrast is much more eye catching.

I agree that the Neptune blue color itself is hands down the best blue I have ever seen on a vehicle. It’s actually kind of mesmerizing to me. KIA did an outstanding job with this color.

I tend to stay away from wraps because I am concerned how durable it will be long term. I pretty much just buy and drive, never been much for modifying. :)
Yeah, from what I read the wraps aren’t that great in car washes or harsh climates like I experience in Maine. If I owned my vehicle (or end up buying out my lease), I would probably just look into having the roof actually painted black instead.

I never modified any of my previous cars/SUVs, but the Seltos design keeps on capturing my attention even over a year of ownership. It’s kind of like a work of art to me in a sense, so I like adding subtle modifications to accentuate the style, and/or enhance the driving experience.

I would still recommend the OEM KIA to absolutely everyone. They are a must buy!

Did you hear any update from dealership as to when your order was created in the system ? My order was validated by Kia Canada on 27 Nov. It will likely get delayed beyond 3 months.
