I just got an official delivery date of February 2nd! That makes it a total wait of 6 months and 12 days from $500 deposit to delivery. I'm glad I got my trade-in offer in ink. I ordered an SX, white with a black top so that may have extended the wait. Additionally, I told them to take off the absurd $135 carpeted floor mats they tried to include, Tux Mats are on the way.

Cheers!

Today is 3 months since we ordered our '22 Seltos LX AWD and it looks like it hasn't even been built yet. That's OK - we're not going anywhere, so it would just be sitting in the garage while the warranty slowly evaporates. Hopefully it will be here by spring when we're ready to hit the road again.

We also have our trade-in offer for our '19 Subaru Forester printed out, but the fine print says this offer is good for 30 days. I had 2 similar offers at other dealers, so if worse comes to worse, I'll sell it to one of them for cash. And, yes, I am taking into account the sale tax difference.

Update: There was an official delivery date of 02/01/2021. Not surprisingly, it didn't show up. The deal says any day now but I'm skeptical. They also said their trade-in offer would remain with no limit on how far I could drive my current car, I'll let you know if they try to do cardealer-ish things when it finally does show up.

We have 2 cars, so we took our trade-in (a '19 Forester) home and parked it in the garage after the appraisal/order. I only take it out every 2 weeks to do our grocery run of about 10 miles round-trip and an occasional errand if the weather is nice. So far, we have only added about 150 miles, so mileage should not be an issue. In the meantime, we are using our '20 Soul LX for most driving.

We're going through the process of choosing a dealer to order from. I don't know how it works with Kia but the salespeople we've dealt with so far don't seem to have exact answers. When I last ordered a car from GM, I made sure to choose a dealer that had an actual allocation to use. Without an allocation, the dealership could not submit an order to the factory.

With Kia, we're basically being told that orders can be submitted to the factory at any time and the factory just picks up so many orders at a time from a dealership, and that number seems to vary. This just seems haphazard and I can't believe that is what's happening.

We're in some significant need for the Seltos. Our SUV was rear ended and totaled during a recent snow event and now we've only got a small and short range electric car, and a dedicated sports/track car to drive. My wife refuses to drive the sports car and the electric car has well less than 100 miles range so we're pretty limited in how much we can get around. We have a long road trip in August around the western states so we want to get the Seltos well before then to break it in and to get to know it before heading out.

A six month wait at this point is too long. What is the actual process to get a Seltos built as soon as possible? Does each dealer have an allocation of slots per month for vehicles and we need to find a dealer that has an unspoken for allocation that can ensure an immediate order to the factory that will get built?

I got my Seltos EX in 3 months time from the time of booking.

Place: Edmonton / Canada.

My Openion: 2022 Model build quality is far good. Doors and Hood are very strong and heavy like the one in the luxury vehicle. Drive quality is very nice. I had driven 2021 model for a test drive before booking, but honestly there is a lot of difference, 2022 model is way better in my openion. I can able to connect to Wireless Airplay. Heated seats and Heated steering exceeds the expectation. Sound quality is better too when compared to the 2021 model that i had test driven, not sure if it is not tuned properly in the 2021 model that I had drove. SirusXM is missing in 2022, may be I have not noticed properly. Drive pleasure is really great.

Con: I used Kia Optima, the heater there works fast, but heater in seltos is pretty slow (2-5 minutes more to heat up the complete car - For those who drives in -40 Centigrades). Accelaration in sports mode is too good, but accelaration in normal mode meets expectation.

@Old Car Nut We ordered a '22 Seltos LX AWD on Nov 2nd. I used to work at this Kia dealership as photographer/online marketing before retiring so I know them. They told me it would be 3-4 months. Next week (March 2nd) will be 4 months and I haven't even got a notification of a build date. Ugh. Luckily, we also have a '20 Kia Soul and we're not traveling because of COVID.

That's not hopeful for us. We ordered a few weeks back but would really like to have delivery by early June as we have a long road trip planned in August and want to get some miles and mods/updates done before heading out. The Seltos is replacing our SUV that was totalled in a rear end collision during a previous snow event so we don't have another vehicle which can serve as a reasonable car for this particular road trip.

I had hopes of supply chain issues working themselves out and production ramping up to meet demand but that doesn't appear likely for our needed timeline. It might be smartest at this time for us to place orders for a few different brands of vehicles and just take the first one that gets manufactured. We had high hopes for the Seltos as it's the perfect size for us as empty nesters.

Subaru's CEO wrote a strong letter to their dealers telling them of the expectation that no additional dealer markup should be imposed. We signed on for a $2k ADM with our order. May be time to head back to Subaru and look again.

If you can find one in stock most dealerships have them marked over a few thousand over MSRP. The dealer I ordered mine from doesn't. I ordered it Feb 1st I'm told it'll be here April 1st.... I guess we'll see 🤷‍♀️

We ordered our '22 Seltos LX AWD on 02 Nov 2021, and they still don't even have a build date. Talking with the salesman (nice guy who I know since I used to do photos and the website for this dealer), and he told me a few of the first '23 Sportages are coming in this weekend. One is a base AWD and the only option is floor mats. Same color (steel gray) as the Seltos we ordered. We put our name on it for "first dibs."

After ordering the Seltos, I wondered about the logic of having two almost-identically sized cars - we also have a '20 Soul LX. I think we would miss the room of the Forester on long trips. Seeing that we are both in our mid-60s, retired, and having minor health issues, I'm hoping to do a lot of traveling the next 5 (or more) years.

The '23 Sportage is about 6 inches longer than the '22, and has roughly 74 cubic feet of luggage space in the back with the seats down. For comparison the Soul and Seltos have 62 cu/ft. EPA shows 23 MPG City and 28 MPG highway. That's 3-4 MPG less than the Seltos, but I can live with that.

With the generous trade-in on our '19 Subaru Forester, the Seltos was going to only cost us about $2,000 out-the-door. The Sportage will be about $7,500. That's with no markup on sticker. Sorry kids - there goes your inheritance. HaHa! Remember, too, the true cost of ownership is the difference between what you buy it for and what you sell it for later. I'm guessing the $$ depreciation on a Seltos or Sportage the first 5-6 years will be pretty similar. Plus, the Sportage is a '23.

The Sportage has a 2.5 engine that has been used by Hyundai for 2 years and has a pretty good track record. It has both GDI direct injection AND port injection, so intake carbon build-up should be less of a problem. Although, we had a 2013 Soul 1.6 with GDI and it ran like new when we traded at 95K miles. I do like the simple MPI alone on the Seltos. The '23 Sportage also has an 8-speed automatic (not IVT/CVT), and an extra inch of ground clearance.

If we were going to whittle down to just one car, I think we would wait for the Seltos, since it would have AWD and all the room we need 90% of the time. But, since we have the Soul, we can splurge a little and also have a roomier car for trips.

We'll see if we like it when it arrives. I will update later.

With the war, I'm hearing supply chain issues will become more significant. We placed our order in mid-February and I'm not sure we will get it in time for an August road trip. For many reasons, the Seltos is the ideal sized vehicle for us. We can't really go any smaller, and we came from the next size larger and wouldn't want to go back there. But with the shortage in new vehicles, we've taken a cursory look at some compact SUVs that we had considered in the past and don't really see any way we could, with certainty, get them any sooner than the Seltos. So we wait. And if it doesn't happen, we'll be taking our road trip that includes several drives to trailheads on dirt roads, in our other car with three inches of ground clearance. That will be fun.

We have identical SX orders placed at two different dealers in the middle of February. We're in the US not far from the port of entry. At the smaller of the two dealers, our Seltos was the third SX in line, and it was still third a few days ago. At the larger and possibly largest dealer in our area, it was sixth and is now fifth in line. Both dealers are saying that SX orders are just not being picked up as quickly as other models so there are likely some supply issues for parts specific to the SX.

What dealer on the east coast? I was told that the ex premium is very delayed but the Seltos SX was still delivering In 8-12 weeks.

Port City Kia in Saint John N.B.They have an empty showroom with a flip chart full of orders just to show people how delayed the orders are. Some orders I saw are well into 2023 for the Seltos,Forte and Sorento.
Right on. I'm over in NS and as far as I'm aware it depends on the model. The Seltos ex premium is falling into January but the lower tiers/SX is supposed to be 8-12 weeks. Thinking of going top tier just for that reason.
