Okay, I get that my Seltos EX doesn't have a power lift-gate (even though it really should at this level), but not even a button to manually open it from the driver's seat? Even the lower levels of nearly any other SUV have that ability. It was kind of embarrassing when I was asked to pop open the back so someone could access the rear cargo area and I said to say "Sorry. You need to open it manually". At this point I'm hoping I'm just too ignorant to know how to do it. Could it be?

If the doors are unlocked, so is the tailgate...anyone should be able to push the button under the rear light bar and lift it open.
If the doors are locked you definitely need the key in your pocket.

it doesn't unlatch unless you push the button on the liftgate itself...no inside button. To be honest it isn't required since if the doors are unlocked, the liftgate will unlatch when you push the button outside. The only time I ever found vehicles that"unlatch" with an inside button was if the gate wouldn't unlatch unless you had the key in your pocket. Pretty sure ours will anyways when unlocked.
