Hi new owner here. 2023 Seltos. I'm looking into getting cross bars so my wife and I can haul skis and snowboards this winter but the roof rails are flush I think? All the pictures I see show that it has roof rails that you mount to easily. Am I just missing something or did I not pay attention very well and screw myself? Thank you in advance.

Kinda hard to believe that they would even sell an SUV, whatever model, without roof rails. Certainly not the case here in Oz. Geez, they'd be a bit dodgy to have added after market, and without the excellent anti-rust measures the factory finished model has. Could be done by a decent professional though, no doubt.

Base model has to achieve the price leader MSRP, that’s what brings in the customers, then they upsell…whatever they figure they can cut without too much discomfort to the buyer, that’s what they do.

Yeah, back in 2017 when I was up for a lease, I was considering another Ford Escape. Most of them on the lot didn’t have any roof rails. I was like “WTF is that sh*t all about?” to the salesman. He said “to save money.”

I told him that they all looked ridiculous. At the end of the day, I ended up with a Ford Fusion…haha

Love it, life is funny. I ended up finding out Thule make's a cross bar set that fits without a roof rail on 4 'access points'. It's interesting looking, and close to $700. So going to wait and see if I really want that or might just save up for the adventure hitch and try to hitch my roof needs.
Go to Harbor Freight for cross bars. $60.
