same here! bought a 2023 seltos in November and they said i would receive second key in two weeks! now going on four
months! Kia quick to take your money but no second key still??? Kia sucks’
That I would say that was a bold-faced lie on their part. Any Kia dealer today knows how long it's been to get them. Unless your salesman was first day fresh.

That all being said guys. You gotta cut them a little slack. First, it's not the dealer's fault with the exception that 'some' dealers are making promises they know they can't keep.

From a KIA standpoint, yes they have a shortage. Do they stop building cars cause this one component is missing? They have customers wanting the cars. They have a dealer network they have to support or they'd go under. If they held back cars due to this one component how many jobs would be lost, both in the factories and the dealerships?

I think KIA/Hyundai are doing the best they can with the shitty hand they've been dealt.

My sales rep would make up dates like that too, knowing he didn’t know jack, but just saying something to appease me temporarily. And then when the key didn’t show when he said it would, he’d just kick the can down the road, with some new date. These guys just don't care from my experience. They made the sale already. And they barely cared back then before making the sale, because their cars were flying off the lot and they didn’t have to exert any effort to make the sale. I never want to be in that position again.

I got mine 2023 seltos (seattle) in Oct22. Recently contact my salesman, telling me not dealer's problem and i could only keep waiting until Kia ships the second fob to me. I asked my salesman for contact email/ phone number from Kia, so I could get information/ update from kia. He told me there is no contact information that he could provide to me, and I could only wait....... this is my first car, and I am not happy with this experience. they promised to keep my update and follow up when i got the car, and now just ask me to wait:( Anyone knows is there a way to protect our right, if the fob keep not providing to us?

I would recommend moving up the ladder at your Dealership. First the Sales Manager, then the Owners. Most Dealerships have websites that show employee positions, phone number, and email address.

sadly, many folks (not just KIA) are still waiting for their 2nd FOB.

I've been contacting my salesman monthly since Sept 22, still don't have it. I contacted Kia of America, they responded by saying it would be sent to the Parts Department of my dealer at some point in the future. If your salesman is telling you it will be sent directly to you, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Call the Parts Manager at your dealership & establish a rapport. He/She will be the one to help you & contact you likely when it comes in. Good luck!

FWIW I noticed in my online owner's portal that I had a message in the campaign section stating the my 2nd Key Fob was available. Upon speaking with the Parts Manager at the dealership where I purchased my Seltos, she got mine ordered while also commenting that Kia had plenty of them available. For those who are still waiting, it might be worth a phone call to the Parts Manager.

Yep, probably wouldn't hurt...they seem to have sorted the "blip" out.
The new 2023 my mother picked up on Saturday (fresh off the truck) came with two FOBS.

As an update, it was actually the Service department that programmed the second FOB. But it was actually my sales person talking to the sales manger who ended up ordering. Took about a week for the Service department to call me that it was in and schedule. Took about an hour.

I've been at the dealers 4 times in the last 2 months for various reasons and each time I've been talking to both my sales person and the Service department. All I get from service is, "We don't have them yet." The Sales guy is saying they were sent from corporate to the distributers and when they come in he will call me to schedule an appointment to get the FOB programmed.

I got my letter two days ago. Comes direct from KIA Canada, not the dealer. Looks almost like a recall but is said to be a 'Voluntary Service Campaign'.

My guess is they're not sending them all out at once. I called my dealer, and they ordered it, and I'll pick it up during my next service in three weeks. She said they'd been coming in pretty quickly. The letter from KIA Canada actually warns that the dealer will order it when I contact them, not that it's waiting for me at the dealer.

I suspect the answers you get may be different once you get your letter. I'd just wait it out. They'll get to you.

there still is a shortage, so if you have a notice that you can get it, do it asap! i work in the heavy truck industry and we have cpc's (computers that basically control all the other computers on your truck) that are eight plus months out. that said, glad when i got mine in january it came with both fobs.

btw, if you think about a chip shortage, think off all the things we use that have computer circuit boards now....if it's at all electric, it uses at least one chip somewhere...i'm sure even a toaster has a computer chip now. very dangerous situation to have pretty much one country, who is not our friend, be the supplier of all the chips. we need to expand our manufacturers to other countries (ours preferably ;) )

Chia doesn't have a monopoly. There are still a lot of chip manufacturers in Silicon Valley as well as southern California, both in LA and San Diego.
