My girlfriend bought a 23 Seltos SX turbo in August '22. We were told the same thing, the key would come in. They actually offered me a job there later and I took it in October '22. Every Seltos I have sold had two fobs (that I can remember anyway, there maybe was one at the beginning when I started but I can't recall. I know all of the ones from Thanksgiving forward had them.
We still haven't received ours which is what led me to come here to look. If all of these others that they're shipping out and selling have two fobs why can't they give us ours? It's because they've already got our money so we're not as important to worry about as the potential new customers and the money Kia wants from them.
Also, I think it's hilarious that they offered us the RoadVantage and Wrap that one of the things it covers is if you lose a key they'll replace it. How would they replace it if they can't give us the ones we need now?🤣
I kinda wish I would have had her keep that coverage and told them she lost her key and needs a replacement. When they couldn't do it maybe we could've seen what our lawyers would think about it.

I've now gotten a letter from Kia that says the 2nd Smart Key fob is available. But the service department still has to order it? It has the same number I see in the owners portal campaign tab. Last I talked to the service department they were waiting on Kia to ship them. It's been a full 6 months now I'm getting pissed.

I got the same letter. You have to call the Service Department, & yes, they have to order it. Mine only took 2 days to come in. Then you have to make an appointment to come in with your current fob & the little funky key they gave you as your "2nd key." Some dealerships are just getting directives from Kia that, yes, they have to order it, it will not automatically be sent. Good luck!!

I just got off the phone with my local dealer service dept. They have no clue what's going on. After they talk to their regional rep. they will call me back.

When you think about it, it makes sense. If the dealer just handed them out KIA themselves would have a hard time keeping track of who got their fob and who didn't. The dealerships order the fobs using your VIN. I had to provide mine when they put in the order.

What doesn't make sense is corporate not keeping dealerships in the loop. I just got off the phone with my salesman who pretty much just told me the same thing the service department told me earlier. They have a regional service rep coming in later today and they will try to get more information from them then. It's messed up.

The fact that some dealerships are in the loop suggests that your dealership isn't making the effort to be in the loop. It's not like KIA is telling 'some' dealerships what's going on while intentionally leaving others out. It's in KIA and Hyundai's best interest to send out the dealership newsletter or the email saying hey this is what's going on. That's how they lower the number of phone calls they get from angry dealerships.

If I had to lay bets, I'd say the information is well communicated to dealerships and it's the dealership's point of contact that is dropping the ball in communicating that information downstream. I could be wrong, no way to tell. But I'd be surprised if KIA weren't making attempts to communicate with the dealerships on this specific, and any other, issues. There is NO REASON for my dealership and others to be aware of what's going on while your dealership doesn't.

I've said this before. Any service agent or salesperson outside of their first week of work with a dealership ought to know what's going on with this. Especially this past month or two since owners have begun getting the Service Campaign notice. If your dealership staff are playing dumb with you, stop blaming KIA. Your dealership staff don't know because they can't be bothered to.

If you read this far ... buy yourself a donut, you deserve one. I'm annoyed. This witch hunt of a thread needs to be locked.

To clarify, not annoyed with Evil. Just annoyed at the general anger toward KIA/Hyundai. We've talked in this thread before about KIA's options. Hold back the second key fob till they become available, or stop building cars till they are. If they stop building cars, then we wait longer for our vehicles, like a lot longer, and dealerships suffer cause they can't get product. KIA is doing what it can to support its dealership network. Not to mention everything else, manufacturing, 3rd party parts providers. Everyone suffers. All because of a chip shortage outside of KIA/Hyundai's control. KIA did what it could to get the product out there and keep people working.

I'm not angered toward Kia. The breakdown is most likely at the dealership, though my sales agent says it happens to him all the time where corporate forwards info to the customer, but it never gets to him. I'm not sure how much of that to believe and in the end I don't really care. I care only that I've been told one thing and something else is true and I paid for a product I have not yet received.

Note: while I was typing up this reply the local service department did call me to tell me they have ordered the key, but they have no real ETA. Her best guess was 4 to 10 days.

Sounds like you're on the right track! My salesman told me it would automatically be shipped too. I told him to check with service. He finally did, & found out he was wrong. I got my mailing from Kia same day. Fob came in 2 days later. Hopefully, yours will come soon & you can put it behind you!!
