FYI - Talked to the "Navigations Solutions Center" today...this was previously named "Hyundai Auto Ever" and before that was "Mapnsoft." They are at
confirmed that the best practice is to first go to mapnsoft.com to see if the update has been released (it still shows the April '22 update). Then you go to update.kia.com, get the latest updater program downloaded and follow on from there with the download to your PC, copy to USB and update the car. He said the Seltos update was supposed to come out this week but has been pushed back to mid November....

Hmmm....here's the message on mapnsoft.com - this would cover us and is in line with what they told me on the phone yesterday - confusing..........
GEN 3 AND NEWER SHIPPING ORDERS ARE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE UNTIL THE RELEASE OF THE NEW V16.5 UPDATE IN MID-NOVEMBER.

Chatted with someone at Mapnsoft - see below about some 'problems' with the current update - apparently sometimes it just won't start to begin with....but it either doesn't start or works OK from what I gather.... Perhaps JDR can give us his experience!

MAPNSOFT: Yes it appears that Kia has released the download option to the Navigation Updater application. Shipping orders will not be available on our site until later in November.
  • You are welcome to download and attempt the installation. There have been a few errors involving other vehicles with the same generation of head unit.

  • oh my.....should we expect to hear one way or another if thiings are 'fixed'....?

  • It is not necessarily an issue with the update but perhaps an issue with their particular software they had currently installed.
    10:38 AM

  • The issue was simply that they were unable to initiate installation.

  • so it either starts/works or doesn't - doesn't mess up what is there already....?

  • We have not had any issues with failures damaging units at this time.

  • ok....thx

Great, thanks. Noticed in a Hyundai forum that there's an option to "complete update after the car is shut off" - that would be nice, vs. having car running so long...................?!

Doug, I did just that. Last night I downloaded the update to memory stick , started car, plugged in the memory stick, accepted update, told me that I can turnoff car for the update to happen, turned off car. This morning when I started the car it was updated.

I need to do this. I still have the OG 3 widget split screen. Growing tired of it now and ready for something more fresh! Nice that you don’t have to keep the car running anymore.

Did the install. New feature that lets you begin with car running and then shut it down with update continuing is great. Easy install. Not many changes. More soothing sounds (background)!

I'm glad the new 'update with car turned off' worked for you guys. Below is my experience...thought it would work! It took about 75 min with car running to complete, no problems. I had been running the car yesterday morning so can't think of why the battery would be "low"... Like others said, few if any noticeable changes, but hopefully the maps were updated....

Not getting the option to download the update right now. Doesn't look like anything too interesting though..? I'll check again in a month I suppose.

I think I've mentioned this before, but the Seltos battery is extremely small and presents problems with installing aftermarket equipment. I run a dashcam front/rear and radar detector and some other pieces (tablet, scanner, inverters) so I know my power draw is more than most, but I've had to spend a lot more time tweaking and dialing back ignition-off settings for my devices on this car than any other before it. Probably also put some serious wear on this battery given the amount of jumps it's had, but that's a different

I know you're not plugging in a bunch of stuff because we've talked extensively about your car but are you taking a lot of short drives less than a mile or two? If so, that's likely the culprit. Not a problem if you've never had to jump for seemingly no reason - but if it becomes a problem and the battery tests okay, a weekly hood-pop and float charger would probably solve it.
