Just purchased the S model last week. I've noticed something strange with the Re-Circulated air button, it Times out. I like to use re-circulated air a lot to avoid, bad exhaust, smokers, skunk, etc. But to have it time out after 5 minutes? I'm wondering if this is a malfunction or a design mistake. If it's intentional, it's Ridiculous and stupid. First car ever to own since 1982 that I couldn't keep re-circ air on permanently.
Any one else notice this?

have you thoroughly read your owners manual, as it usually will tell you how the climate system functions and what takes place on various settings and under what conditions some controls will automatically change.

I read a good bit, but honestly I have to go over it again. So far some of my complaints is that I'm not familiar or knew how it operated. I must say that this car has a huge learning curve, so many high tech features.

It’s under the climate settings. It changes from recirculate to outside air after a time. Something about humidity.

Well I notice this too but in my 2016 KIA Soul. Exactly the same thing that you described is what I’m always experiencing. I will try holding defrost button in for 3 seconds as mentioned later in this thread. Good luck.

Ensure you are on Manual Mode and all windows, are closed completely. The recirculation fan is designed such a way that the moment there is any ambient air entering the cabin it switches off as designed.

Hope this helps.

I own a Seltos GT in India. Started to notice the issue of the recirculation button going off repeatedly within random 2-4 mins of switching it on ( confirmed by the indicator light ). Reached this thread and followed the suggestions. Pressing the front defogger for 3+ seconds did not help. I also de-selected the option of Auto Defogging under the Climate menu in the head unit, but that too did not help. I then called Kia service ( which I should have called first ) and the engineer told me, and with rock-solid confidence, that my sunroof is not fully closed. I opened and closed the sunroof and voila the issue went away. Hope this helps others.

As someone from a cold climate, 6 months of snow and ice, this feature is appreciated. If you run circulated air for any more than a few minutes at sub-zero temperatures your windows will fog up. I suspect its operating as designed.
