SX Turbo Sound system Upgrade

Hi all,

Just got a new SX Turbo with the Bose. It doesn't sound half bad but my previous car had a major sound system in it, and I'm really missing that hard hitting low end. With that said, I would like to add a sub where the Bose on is (passenger side rear cargo area). I dont want to lose any space thats why I would like it to go in there. Anyone know how to get to that subwoofer and take apart the cargo area to check it out to see how I can proceed?

Update : Have to remove the rear weather stripping, then remove the panel in the rear which has push clips and is press fit in. After that you can get into the rear passenger side panel which has screws. Take those off and again some more clips to pull back from. Once that is done you have access to the sub. 3 10mm nuts and it comes right out. currently looking at replacing the Bose "sub" with a DB Drive WDX6.5G2.4 and running it into 2 ohms with my DB Drive a6.1600.1D that I already have, this should be interesting too say the least

If you get a chance to take photos of the process I would be interested in seeing what all you did to make it happen. Good Luck!

Just waiting on that sub to come in. I'm also in Canada so it's quite cold so it may wait for the full install. Once I get the sub I'm going to try it with the stock harness to make sure the Bose system is happy. I've heard of many issues while upgrading a Bose "premium" system. I'll get pictures on here when I can

?? what year is yours? My 2021 has the Bose system and there's a bass speaker in my cargo side panel..? And I had to tone the bass down it was too hard hitting..LOL

2021 with the Bose as well, my old car had an aftermarket 12" in the back, so for me, I'd like a little more bottom end haha

I would never accuse the Bose system in the Seltos as being particularly good or hard hitting with bass. The woofer in the hatch almost has no presence at all.

I agree, it's 6.5" and so are the door speakers. Can definitely feel the door speakers, the hatch, not so much.
Finally got to take some pictures. First you want to remove the floor in the cargo area (mine slides out), Then remove the weather stripping by pulling on it. The very back there's a piece that goes across thats plastic. Remove the push clips

Theres now 3 philips screws that you want to remove

Then to get to the actual "subwoofer" there are some clips that you have to pop out

Removing the actual subwoofer is just 3 10mm nuts and a simple plug.

With that said I have the new sub in, but thats it. Its quite cold currently so just waiting to run the power wire for the amp until its warmer. Should sound quite nice once its all hooked up correctly

I agree, and why is there a center speaker? Wtf happened to left right stereo channels?

Haha, it seems like it's there to add some volume to the vehicle. Seems like it's similar to how a home theater works now unlike the cars if yesteryear

I just got a Seltos Sx... Following on your comment, I didn't even know that there was a subwoofer, almost non existant.

??? again. I have to tone it down cause there's too much vibration ....?! Even my 20 year old says it was too much. :)
Volume could be better but over all I'm ok with it
When i crank that bad boy up with a serious drum background track, i am very impressed, sub woofers have a tendency to only work at higher volumes, pushing out more air. Its not directional, as it needs a good distance for the lower bandwidth to perform. You're never going to hit lows around the 20hz mark, there's not enough room for the signals wavelength. The whole ideal behind a sub woofer, is that it needs more power to push those signals out because of the distance it has to travel to your ears, which is why they are always installed furthest away from the drivers seat.

Hello, I know yours is an old post but wanted to let you know what I did with the factory sub. I replaced it with a Memphis Auidio 6 1/2" shallow depth sub and added a 400 watt mono bass amp. This was recommended by Crutchfield. I to make an adapter for the sub but it still fits nicely behind the factory panel. No room lost and it sounds incredible. Did the install myself. It truly makes all of the other speakers sound better too

Yeah, I installed a 6.5 DB Drive WDX6.5G2 in the factory enclosure as well as a 12" alpine type R. They're both wired to a switch so if I need the room in the hatch, I switch it over to the 6.5 and take out the 12" box

Nice! Do you also have an amp wired to both subs? Just wondering.

Yeah, I have each sub wired to 2 ohms running around 800W RMS, I can only run one at a time or it runs it at 4 ohms and the amp only does 400W. It's a DB Drive okur 1600.1D
