It looks like the Kia Seltos will be making its way to North America as it will be available in Canada next year.

Le Guide de l’Auto/The Car Guide was able to get confirmation from Kia at the launch of the 2020 Kia Forte. They predict it will have a similar starting price like the Hyundai Kona ($21,199 Canadian)

Back in June, Kia unveiled the Seltos, a new subcompact crossover aimed at global markets. However, the company had yet to decide whether or not this model would be sold in Canada.

Good news: while attending the media launch of the 2020 Kia Forte5, we learned that the Seltos is indeed coming to our shores.

Sharing its platform with the Hyundai Kona, Kia’s newest product will be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as standard. A turbocharged 1.6-litre unit will be available for superior performance. All-wheel drive will also be offered.

Unlike the Kona, the Seltos adopts more angular forms reminiscent of Kia’s other products, such as the Telluride. The Korean brand also integrated a lot of on-board technology, notably regarding advanced driving aids. An infotainment system with a large 10.25 screen is also available.

When the Seltos arrives in Canada early next year, it will join the Niro, Sportage, Sorento and Telluride in Kia’s growing portfolio of utility vehicles. Pricing has not yet been announced, but we can expect it to be similar to the Kona’s which starts at $21,199.

Always seen this coming.
Kia's lineup doesn't have anything close. Meanwhile the demand for such an SUV is growing.

Also, strong Telluride sales factor in.

That's very true, I imagine the rise of the Telluride definitely convinced Kia to make the move. I definitely prefer its styling over the Niro.

They can't be compared. The Niro is a sporty crossover while the Seltos is a rugged SUV with a touch of luxury.

That's true, I can easily see it outsell the Niro in Canada, because of its rugged look.

How do you think the Seltos is going to do against the Qashqai?

If it's price competitive to the Qashqai I would think it could outsell it, if the supply is available, or at least give it a serious run for its money :D

Hopefully there's enough supply because they can't get enough of it in India!

if it comes to Canada it would get it's supply from the same factory in South Korea that they build the Soul.

That's true, if that's the case lets see if that factory gets backlogged as well when orders start coming in.
Being Korean based production might better its odds at flawless Canadian deliveries considering their home market is always priority.
........now if we could only get an official confirmation from Kia Canada or Kia Motors that the Seltos will be coming to Canada (and the US) ?

I think so too, it allows them to monitor how the production process is going more effectively rather than it being overseas.
my local dealer has confirmed that the Seltos is coming to Canada. Figure an a possible official release from Kia Canada around the time of the LA Auto Show on Nov 22nd.

That's great news, thanks for the update! It makes sense since it's expected to debut in LA. Did they tell you anything else about the Seltos?

He had viewed one in person, but Kia Canada did not want any any details/photos released till they make their official annoucement, so I have to respect him for that. He did however, confirm that Canada will use the Seltos name and not change to somethings else which has been speculated.

That's definitely fair, it was cool that he was able to confirm it at least. I'm glad that they're keeping the name, I really like it personally.
