Never owned a Niro but I can comment on the above questions.Hello all. I currently have a 2017 Kia Niro Touring, but I'm approaching the point of Keep or Fix (time for new tires, soon the brakes will need doing, the 60k miles maintenance will need to happen, etc.) I am considering trading it for the Seltos because I really do like the idea of AWD which is now SLIGHTLY more relevant to me than the MPG since I now work from home permanently. Anyway, there are a few things holding me back and I wanted some clarification to make sure my understanding is correct:
1.) In the US, there is no model that offers a Heated Steering Wheel, correct? Is there an aftermarket option to install a heated steering wheel and is it worth it?
2.) In the US, is there any model or option that offers Wireless Android Auto connectivity? That has been a major nuisance for me, as it keeps dropping with the wired version in my Niro.
Has anyone else traded from a Niro to a Seltos? What is your feedback?
Thanks y'all! Really appreciate your input!
1. No heated steering wheel in the US market as of now. No ventilated seats or heads-up display either. However, the heat comes on fast so I’ve never missed the heated steering wheel. The (potentially sub-par quality) leather on the steering wheel is very soft and won’t stay cold for long if you’re running heat.
2. At this moment, it’s unclear whether we will have wireless CarPlay/AA. There’s been some reports from Canada(?) in the last week or so that some people have had a service-center-level FW update that enabled wireless CarPlay. I haven’t personally seen official notes by either Kia or MapNSoft (developers of our software) but they might be around somewhere. There’s also a rumor that the functionality will only be available on Seltos manufactured after 10/2020
I’m due for an oil change soon so I’ll be able to comment on availability of the wireless update in the next couple weeks…
