Update service interval help

4406 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  SHCS
I have a 2022 seltos s. I have tried to reset the service interval using the radio. I keep getting a message saying "no internet connection". I have read, on the forum, about the cluster having a gear that you use for resetting. I do not have the gear. I have toggled through everything several times to make sure I didn't miss anything. I'm completely out of ideas.

Thank you in advance

I don't think you're missing anything. I was optimistic when I saw all those posts and YouTube videos mentioning the gear on the instrument cluster to reset. Well, I don't have that on my EX, either. What I do have is a setting on my Infotainment screen where I can (allegedly) reset the service interval. It's very straightforward and would be a wonderful option if only it worked. I hit "Reset". It takes a second, then says "Service Interval successfully reset" or some such language...except it isn't reset. It's right back telling me upon startup that I'm xxx miles overdue for maintenance.

I've been driving for 50+ years and I have yet to be needed to be told when to change my oil, etc. So frustrating. I'm bringing it in for my correct oil filler cap next week*, at which time I will ask them to at least reset and ideally disable that reminder feature. I'm not optimistic that they can or will do so.

* I tried to just go in and pick up the correct cap, but was told that they have to put it on the engine so there's a record of it having been done.

what is the difference between what is on the old and new caps?
They call it a campaign rather than a recall. The original oil filler cap on my 2022 EX was labeled to use 5W-20 but the manual clearly states 0W-20.

Sc224_ownr_sp2: owner notification - this document is the owner notification advising that kia is conducting a voluntary emissions service campaign to replace the engine oil filler cap on certain 2022 my seltos vehicles.

Have the dealer change the reminder to "user mode" so that we can change it like the manual says. Was in today for an alignment and this is what the tech wrote on the ticket. I could change # days / # miles for the reminder after his 'change'.... "Attempted to reset thru the cluster and it would not. Connected KDS and scanned for codes, none found. Wen into cluster module to reset it there, but the setting changes would not show up on display. Performed a capacitance discharge procedure to clear any corrupted sw issues. This fixed the problem and can now rest the maintenance reminder."
I can't figure mine out either. I've reset the service alert through the touchscreen radio, but everytime I start the car I still get the service reminder in the dash cluster. I have no "gear" menu like I've seen in videos online. My gauge cluster looks a little nicer than I've seen in videos too. Higher res and full color.

I've also tried reseting it through the website owner portal, which does have maintenance reminders that communicate with the car. No change.

The dealer has to make the initial change if it's like my '21 SX Turbo - notes above. They have to figure it out although it shouldn't be very difficult for them per Kia techs on other forums.....

My dealer was the same. From the factory the vehicles leave with a 12000km interval, your service department will change the interval depending on local conditions. In Canada, we're considered harsh climate and so they adjust the interval to 6000km. I'm surprised actually that they don't adjust it during the initial vehicle setup.
