Hi, new member here. Just picked up my new SX a few weeks ago. Lovin it so far:)

I'm wondering what music storage devices(mp3 player, iPod, thumb drive) connected to the USB input you folks have had success with? The Bose Premium sound system would not recognize my iPod Nano 6th generation at all, even after I converted all songs to mp3. I also tried a SanDisk mp3 player but that kept locking up. The only thing I've had any success with is a 128gb thumb drive. The manual only lists a few compatible devices, mostly thumb drives.

Thanks for posting this. I was looking at a thumb drive so I can have playlists for road trips. So far it's been OK using the USB and CarPlay but I have some music that isn't in my iTunes library. Hopefully others will chime in.

Kia promoting all this technology in their cars it's a sad act when I can't connect my ipod into the usb worked well in my last car honda hrv 3years old .
Well the technology Kia is promoting is new technology. You're expecting support on legacy devices that the manufacturer of the device isn't supporting any more. Your older car supported it because like the technology you want supported, it's old. Another problem is its an old Apple device that Apple didn't bring forward to support its newer vehicle interface platform. Are you equally upset with Apple for leaving your iPod behind?

If this was important to you, it makes sense to try before you buy. As an alternative, you could use an application such MediaMonkey to convert your iTunes library to MP3 and sync your library to a USB stick. It's an option if you're willing to do it.

Im using a USB thumb drive. What I did notice was that the USB thumb I was using in my other car, which worked in my Seltos ok, when I went and added songs to it my Seltos did not recognise any of the new songs as being there. Take it out and check on my computer and they were there. Back in the Seltos they did not exist. I could not add to the USB from my previous car. Got a new USB, put all the play lists from the old USB on it, added the new tracks and playlists that were invisible and all worked now no problems.
Tried another USB that had been used in my other car, same deal. The new USB all good. (y)
There was no formatting required in my other car for the USB drive. My dash cam from my other car works fine in the Seltos, no issues.

How many songs did you have? The Seltos has a limit as to how many songs it can recognize. It also seems slower to rescan new tracks compared to my other two cars.
Oh, ok, I never knew about the limit. That was probably what happened. There were more songs on the other usb, dont know how many but the new one I have put less on it as I culled out some tracks from the other I stopped listening to. Good to know. If this hits its limit ill add any new ones on another to keep in the console. Thanks. (y)

Had a win here. I tried a few things. Previously with songs I put on my usb stick I edited them. Like, if the song had the artists name before the track name I would rename it, delete the artist name to just show the track name so I saw the actual Song Name first. If I did this some tracks would not show in the Seltos. If I dont rename them and leave them alone I can use them and put them in any play list I like. If I change or delete anything I can only place them in one playlist and they dont show up in any others.
To do this where they can be used anywhere, I put them where I want to, dont put the usb stick in when I update it before I put the key in, now put the key in and turn on the car, whilst running insert the usb stick, let it be read, and presto! Any new additions are accepted and show up and play. Tried this over and over and I can add anything I want and as much as I want. All good (y)
Can now add any song I want. :D

I didn't think to offer other warnings because I assumed you were using simple title names and properly tagged files. Learned that lesson 10 years ago and assumed you were doing the same. My bad.
That's ok and no problem at all. Im sure your info in this thread will for sure be helpful to others who read it as will what I found out trying. All info and tries for issues are a great help. Hey, if I had got no reply I probably would have given up and not kept trying! No bad at all friend. :) (y)
