To me, it's useless. The navigation screen is divided into 2/3 map on the left side of the display and 1/3 navigation directional aids for next right or left, POI's ahead, distance to next POI, tiny icons of POI's ahead, etc. I have to take my eyes from straight ahead to the right to look at the navigational aid screen. To me what is important are the directional aids and POI's, distance to next POI, real icons representing POI's on the map, instead of tiny square icons. That should have been placed on the left side of the display, closer to the driver's peripheral vision. Another thing is when I create a route especially on long trips, just like the one I drove the other weekend - 1,800+ miles, I plan all my stops along the way. I enter all my waypoints for gas stop, rest areas, food stops, etc. but the useless KIA navigation can only accept 2 waypoints on the route!

I only use the KIA navigation, in conjunction with voice recognition commands, on local trips. Otherwise, I use my trusted Garmin or I pre-route my trip on Google Map and send it to my iPhone.

In my previous ride, the navigation system is not integrated with the car's head unit and other electronic systems. Navigation software and maps are on a SD card which can be updated as needed.

Are you happy with the KIA navigation system?

Note: I have blotted out the streets and places on the above map.

Whoever designed KIA's navigation system is not so bright. I probably won't mind it if I have a HUD. But then again, only Canadians are offered the luxury of HUD, which is not available in the US version of Seltos SXT.

I would have preferred the layout below. At least the navigational aid screen is closer to the driver's view.

Google Maps (and even Apple Maps) are far easier to use, provide better information, are better looking, and more up-to-date. I will use the Kia Navigation only when I don't have data on my mobile or when I'm roaming (basically, whenever I drive in the US... which won't be happening anytime soon).

Yes I'm not impressed, actually disappointed. My biggest complaint is there is no unpaved road avoidance and it continually wants to send me down gravel roads :( . I could use android auto but I don't have data so I have to download off line maps.

It’s not perfect for sure. But it’s the best built in Nav system I’ve had / seen lately (I like that it integrates with the HUD and has photo radar warnings). Also, over the past year I’ve been comparing the Uvo routes VS Google Map routes and they have always been the same. That all being said, I use Apple CarPlay and Google Maps 99% of the time because it’s just far superior.

I have sent a complaint to KIA customer care regarding the uselessness of the navigation in their vehicles. If I were them, I dismantle Mapnsoft and farm out an SD card mapping system and just have head unit software be able to interface with the SD card reader.

No, not the best. The best I’ve had so far is the SD card based system in my previous ride. There’s no split screen. The entire map has all the important navigational information on the display.

Good for you in Canada - you have HUD. Not in the US.
